I’ve been doing makeup forever! Literally.
I’ve been a makeup and beauty junkie for as long as I could remember. I was, like, 10 and I would spend my allowance on fashion magazines (this was pre-internet! O.M.G.) and obsess over the photos.
I am also an artist. And when I was studying drawing and painting at Ontario Collage of Art and Design, I discovered Kevyn Aucoin’s makeup books.
I graduated with a BFA in painting beautiful portraits and decided to transition into makeup.
I worked at MAC Cosmetics for about a year (BEST training ever ‘cuz you get hella good as an artist, working with people and practicing on every version of face possible!) while developing my portfolio by whoring out my services for anybody who needed makeup for a photo shoot. I mean, I remember PRINTING my portfolio. like, WOW.
Then I got a website for my work. And then I had the opportunity to go solo and freelance, working with a photographer who shot for some of the biggest fitness and glamour publications. Yes, this was, gain, PRE-Instagram. The hustle was (and is still) REAL, my beautiful friends!
My work was getting published, I was working with incredibly talented people and that’s when I met Lori. We worked in the photography studio together and quickly realized that we were basically separated at birth. LOL. So we naturally started to work together, and hang together, and travel together and we realized that our clients were always asking us the same questions : What product are you using? How are you using it? Can I do it myself?
