How to Curl Your Hair
Curling your hair is a great way to get that sexy “Victoria’s Secret” look.
Pin your hair up leaving a section at the nape of the neck.
Divide the loose section into 1-2 inch sections.
If you want tighter curls, make the sections smaller and for looser curls, make them bigger.
Spray your chosen section with some styling hairspray and proceed to wrap around your curling iron, holding it vertically.
Leave the hair around the curler for approximately 30 seconds.
NOTE: the barrel size of your curling iron is also an indication of how big (or small) your curl will be. We generally use a 1- 1.5 inch barrel.
Continue curling sections of your hair until you reach the top section of your head (the crown). For the top of the head, you want to use the same curling iron, but hold the iron horizontally and proceed to wrap your hair around the rod. Once hair is heated, take the section and wrap around Velcro roller. Let cool. When you take the rollers out, add a spritz of hairspray at the root and tease slightly.
Now you can part you hair, smooth the teased part with a bristle brush and run a wide tooth comb or your fingers through the curls to loosen them.
Finish with some setting spray all over.
How to Straighten Your Hair
Straight hair is great if you want a sleeker, polished look. Think Jennifer Aniston. Hot!
Pin your hair up leaving a section at the nape of the neck. Spray a heat protector on the section and run a straightener through it.
Move the straightener down the length of your hair(from roots to end) to provide even heat. Do not leave the straightener on one spot for an extended length of time, as this may damage your hair.
Continue doing this until all your hair is straight.
Once your hair is straight, you may section it off at the crown and tease the areas where you want volume.
Another option is to wrap each section around a large Velcro curler and leave to cool. This will give you a nice “blown-out” look that is polished, but not stick straight.
How to Create Volume
Every girl wants gorgeous full hair,! Here are several methods to achieve volume for any hair type.
First, apply a volumising spray or serum to your roots.
Then flip your head upside down and, using a blow dryer, dry your hair, focusing on the roots. This does not need to be perfect. Just make sure to give your hair an even amount of air so it is dry at the roots and slightly damp at the ends.
Next, flip your head right side up and section your hair. Starting from the nape of the neck, using a large round brush, dry one section of hair at a time until it is completely dry.
TIP: For extra volume you can pull and dry your hair from the opposite direction from where it will fall.
Once you reach the top of your head (the crown) you can blow dry the hair and wrap each section around a large Velcro curler.
Leave the curler in your hair for about 20 minutes.
How to Tease Your Hair
Teasing your hair is pretty much the only way to make sure your volume lasts all day.
Once your hair is completely dry, section off 1-2 inch pieces of hair.
Hold the strand up firmly with one hand and using your teasing brush, brush gently against the strand.
Your stroke should be firm enough to create a tangle, but not so firm that you rip/break your hair.
Continue teasing sections until desired volume is achieved. To finish the look, take a soft bristle brush and gently smooth over the teased hair. This will disguise the teased areas and blend nicely with the rest of your hair. TIP: If you’re trying to achieve HUGE hair, you can spritz some hairspray on the individual strands before teasing.
Save Your Ombre
Suffering from dead ends? DON’T CUT THEM OFF JUST YET. This is especially helpful for girls who bleach/ombre their hair. I swear by this technique 🙂
- Heat a cup of olive oil on the stove until its hot, but not hot enough that it will burn your skin.
- Grab your hair in your hand like a pony tail, and lower it into the olive oil, allowing the oil to saturate your unhealthy ends
- Carefully over a sink, slowly pour the rest of the olive oil on your scalp, and comb through your hair. Massage your hair and scalp to evenly distribute the oil
- Clip your hair up out of the way and let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Thoroughly shampoo and condition your hair to finish the process 🙂
Repeat this process once a week for healthier, thicker, faster growing hair!
Tips: Olive oil can help you get healthier, thicker lashes as well! Get a small amount on the end of your q-tip and gently run it along the roots of your eye lashes every night. You’ll notice a difference in a matter of weeks!
